▫ При наличии каких-л. неоднородностей в среде имеют место явления преломления и отражения волн. Если возбуждаемые в среде волны отражаются от каких-л. границ (препятствий), то при определённом сдвиге фаз в результате наложения прямой и отражённой волны может возникнуть стоячая волна с характерным расположением максимумов возмущения (узлов и пучностей). При наличии стоячей волны переноса энергии ч-з углы нет, и в каждом участке между 2 узлами наблюдается лишь взаимопревращение кинетической и потенциальной энергии. Син stationary wave, immobile wave, coincident wave.
